Monitoring
Ongoing monitoring and re-testing
Conformance is a state a product passes through, not one it stays in. New components ship, a template changes, a third-party widget updates, and barriers reappear where they were fixed a quarter ago.
What actually regresses
Third-party components updating without notice. Design-system changes rippling into contrast or focus states. New pages built from an old template. Content authored outside the accessible workflow. Very little of this is caught by the team that introduced it, because nothing in their tooling flags it.
Cadence over volume
A short manual pass on the journeys that matter, run every release, finds more than an exhaustive annual audit — because it finds things while the person who introduced them still remembers the change.
Keeping the paperwork honest
If you issue ACRs, monitoring is what keeps them true. A report describing a version you shipped eighteen months ago is a liability in a procurement conversation.
